Although I’ve not tried any of the courses yet, I would like to point out that double-click speed usually depends on your computer, NOT a website. So go to your control panel and change the speed settings. It seems you can purchase a certificate (you get certified free I think, but without having the physical certificate) – anyone know how much it costs?

It is very good, but the instructions aren’t very clear for the typing bit. Rather than getting a green tick, an ‘A’ appears in each box, which seems to change colour as your typing gets faster. This does take a considerable time to complete, and as there’s already a separate typing course, it would, IMO, be better to have this much more basic than it is.

ALISON does provide a certificate, and if you become a member of a group, that can provide an external check. This makes it particularly useful for in-house work training.

There are a few things I dislike about it, one being the speed at which items need to be double-clicked to open, which is very fast. All in all, though, it’s an excellent system, and a useful guide to anyone thinking of setting up online (as opposed to correspondence) distance learning.
